What to do in Sao Paulo on a Sunday in July?

I’m going to Sao Paulo for work in July, and we will arrive early in the morning on Sunday. We will have most of the day to wander around and see some sights. We will be staying on Av. Brigadeiro Faria Lima. Are there nearby museums that are open on Sunday? Any restaurant suggestions? (we are there for 2 nights before flying to Barretos).

My concern is that it is a catholic country, so stores and other places may be closed. Also looking for something nearby so we don’t have to deal with too much transportation.
